winter solstice celebration

  • Ayurvedic Wellness Center 900 Peeler Street Kalamazoo, MI, 49008 United States (map)

The Winter Solstice, as the longest night of the year, marks the end of one cycle and beginning of another.

Solstice means ‘stopped, stationary’. This is the still point where the sun seems to pause in it’s gradually descending position on the horizon, before beginning to climb again. The “pause” in transitions is an aspect that can be challenging to remember, and if we can honor it, it’s where magic unfolds.

Join Kara Aubin & Kara Markovich for this special full moon evening event to celebrate the solstice. This celebration weaves together the modalities of Yoga, sound therapy, and community connection to create an intentional and collective pause.

A gentle and deep asana practice led by Kara A. will center you, and bring life force into alignment.

We’ll gather in circle to honor what’s come to fruition this year, and look forward to what the renewed light is calling forth in the next sun cycle.

The evening will close as we offer our collective intentions to the power of the subconscious mind via a Sound Therapy session with Kara M.

* Please bring your own yoga props to this event, they are not provided.
You’ll need a yoga mat, a firm yoga blanket, and two blocks. For the sound therapy session we also recommend bringing a cozy blanket or two, knee support, an eye pillow, and warm layers including cozy socks. Please dress comfortably for movement and rest. You won’t regret bringing extra props.
