Garlic Mustard Pesto Hike (in-person)
w. Seth Chapman
Get ready to eat your weeds!
Garlic Mustard is an abundant wild green that was originally introduced for culinary and medicinal use—but today, it’s considered an invasive species. The good news? Removing it helps the environment and makes for a nutrient-packed, Kapha-balancing ingredient perfect for spring.
Join Seth Chapman, Apothecary Manager, for this unique hands-on experience. We’ll begin at the Ayurvedic Wellness Center before heading out on a short walk to Kleinstuck Nature Preserve to forage fresh Garlic Mustard.
Along the way, you’ll learn:
How to confidently identify Garlic Mustard
Why foraging this plant supports local ecosystems
The best ways to harvest & prepare it for culinary use
After gathering our greens, we’ll return to the Ayurvedic Wellness Center for a live pesto-making demo—and of course, a taste!
Come for the foraging, stay for the food, and leave with a new favorite wild green!
What to bring: A pair of gloves, a small bucket or basket, shears/scissors, and walking shoes.
