what is foundations of ayurveda?

Ayuh (life) + Veda (body of knowledge). Ayurveda is an elegant life science that offers tools to help you return to and maintain your natural balance. Rooted in the understanding that true health is more than the absence of disease, Ayurveda supports a state of wellness that allows you to live with vitality, clarity, and energy.

The Foundations of Ayurveda course introduces the essential theories and practices that shape this ancient system of healing. Over four weeks, you’ll learn the building blocks of Ayurvedic thought and receive practical home practices to embody the teachings in daily life.

During this course, participants will:

  • Explore the five elements theory and how it shapes all matter and life

  • Understand doshas (constitutional types) and how they influence body and mind

  • Learn about the gunas, or manifest qualities, and their role in balance

  • Study agni (digestive fire) and ama (toxicity) in relation to health and digestion

  • Discover Ayurveda’s guidance on daily rhythms and routines (dinacharya)

Kara Aubin is the founder of the Ayurvedic Wellness Center. She is an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Yoga educator, Herbologist, and Holistic Health Coach based in Kalamazoo, MI.
