foundations of Ayurveda:
theory + practice introductory course

what is Ayurveda?

Ayuh (life) + Veda (body of knowledge). Ayurveda is an elegant life science that holds the theory and mechanisms to assist you as an individual in returning to and maintaining your own inherent constitutional balance. Holding that health is so much more than an absence of disease, Ayurveda helps us cultivate a level of wellness that allows us to show up fully in our lives: vibrantly, vitally, and energetically.

what will I learn?

This four week introductory course will introduce you to the foundational Ayurvedic theory that will set the stage for your relationship with this rich science. In addition to theory, with each module you’ll receive home practices to allow you to have an embodied experience of the teachings.

this course covers:

  • five element theory

  • dosha/constitution

  • gunas/the manifest qualities

  • concepts of digestion according to Ayurveda (including agni and ama)

  • the teachings of Ayurveda on daily rhythms and routines/dinacharya

You’ll receive six hours of instruction from an Ayurvedic Practitioner, with clinical experience working alongside the leading Ayurvedic teachers in the U.S. Each module contains digital materials to enrich your learning, and home practices to give you a practical application of the theory in your daily life.

who is this course for?

  • Foundations of Ayurveda is for those who wish to have an understanding of Ayurvedic theory AND be able to self-apply these practices at home.

  • Ayurvedic clients take this course to peel back the curtain on the “why” behind the “what” of their protocols.

  • Students choose to take this course if they’re not ready for, or don’t need the one-on-one support of clinical consultation, and yet are ready to incorporate these teachings and practices into their wellness journey.

how is the course offered?

Foundations of Ayurveda is available as online course, or via on-demand recordings.

Live sessions are held Sundays, January 4-26, 2025 from 9:00-10:30a ET.

what past participants are saying…

It is so helpful to have a foundational understanding of Ayurveda, whether this is the beginning of a deep dive into the study or for a more general understanding. The class gives a great deal of information that is good for both desires.

- Sera G.

The best recommendation I have ever gotten was to take Foundations of Ayurveda with Kara. She’s outstanding and everything about the course was wonderful. Even the ways she delivers the information, clear, concise, and then the pause… to digest

According to Ayurvedic principles, by understanding oneself, by identifying one’s own constitution, and by recognizing sources of doshic aggravation, one can not only follow the proper guidelines to cleanse, purify, and prevent disease, but also uplift oneself into a realm of awareness previously unknown.
