for the mind that won’t quiet and the body that won’t settle

Community Marma | 20 minutes of Ayurvedic acupressure | $30

support for when your body + mind is on overload

The day ends, but your mind keeps going. You're tired, and yet your body won't let go. You lie down and notice your shoulders are still hunched and your jaw is still tense. Your breath is just a little shallow all day. It’s hard to fall or stay asleep.

Ayurveda reads this pattern as your vital energy (prana) not moving coherently in the subtle body. The mind and body feel restless because the body hasn't been given a way to settle.

why marma

Marma are specific points on the body through which the energetic system can be accessed. They sit where the physical and the subtle meet, which is why marma therapy speaks so clearly to the nervous system. It gives a restless system something to settle into.

Marma also asks nothing of you. There's no technique to learn and no effort to make. You lie down, fully clothed, and the work meets you where you are. For a mind that's used to running the show, that alone can be a relief.

In clinical practice, marma is one of the first tools we reach for when a client's mind won't quiet, stress is affecting digestion, and their sleep is no longer restful. It's also where many of our clients begin their Ayurvedic bodywork journey.

why we’re offering it this way

Community Marma borrows from community acupuncture, where several people receive care in the same room at the same time. Sharing the space is what keeps the cost accessible, and it turns an evening of care into something we do together. Once a month, we set up tables in the atrium and open the door.

Gina Greene, LMT, ERYT

Gina Greene, LMT, ERYT

Gina Greene is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Ayurvedic Bodywork Practitioner, and Yoga Teacher with over twenty years of practice. She continues to be moved by the conversation that emerges as the body speaks via the breath, the feeling plane, the tone of the tissue, the response of the fascia and the tenor of words spoken.

Gina believes that healing touch encourages the bodies intelligence to flourish, our sytems to move towards balance and our experiences to be more fully integrated. Sometimes we need assistance in remembering - to slow down, to release the grip of living, to tend to ourselves and rest into the wholeness of connection.

Her therapeutic approach consists of a fluid and intuitive integration of bodywork techniques that are deeply supported by her ability to direct her attention with open awareness. She completed her 520-hour training and two years of apprenticeship at The Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts.
