Beginning Birding: The Migrating Birds of Kleinstuck
w. Seth Chapman
Migration is one of the most remarkable events in the natural world, and Kleinstuck Preserve offers a front-row seat. Known among birders as a stopover site, Kleinstuck serves as a resting place where migrating birds pause to eat, drink, and recover before continuing their journey. The result is a concentrated, ever-changing gathering of species that is unlike any other time of year.
Experienced birder Seth Chapman will lead the group through Kleinstuck's upland and swamp forest during this narrow window of peak activity. Before heading out, Seth will offer a brief discussion on the types of birds you are likely to encounter, warblers, thrushes, flycatchers, and more, so that what you see on the trail lands with context and meaning.
This hike is as much about community as it is about birds. Whether you are adding to your life list or stepping onto a trail for the first time, you are welcome here.
