The 8 Limbs: Asana to Samadhi (in-person + livestream)
w. Kara Aubin . E.RYT, PAC, AYT
We learn Yoga on the mat, but ultimately our work is to take Yoga off the mat and into our life. This work of living your Yoga is not for the faint of heart. It takes determination to return to the path again and again. This three semester, asana-based series with Kara Aubin uses the 8 limbs of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras as a framework to explore how we can embody our Yoga. Each semester class gives both newer and experienced yogis an opportunity to deepen their Yoga practice using the ancient wisdom of the Yoga Sutras in a practical, hands-on manner.
Part 3: Asana to Samadhi
During these six weeks we utilize the foundation built by the Yamas and the Niyamas to take a subtle look at the practices of asana and pranayama that ultimately culminate in meditation. Here the practices begin to yield subtle and powerful change on many levels of our experience. Asana, pranayama, and meditation will be our tools to explore the foundational teachings that have guided the practice of yogis for thousands of years.
In this six-week series, you’ll be supported by practices to:
- understand how Patanjali suggests we shape our citta vrittis
- reference sutra-by-sutra to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali as they outline the astanga (8 Limbs)
- utilize the tools of asana, pranayama, and meditation to cultivate practices you can take off the mat
- be invited into small home practices and awareness to solidify your embodiment of these teachings
- begin a relation with the Sutras, a text that has guided the practice of yogis for thousands of years
Six Week Series: January 8 - February 26. Skip January 29 and February 19.
