Birding Through Winter (in-person)
w. Seth Chapman

The long days and warm temperatures of summer may be behind us, but there’s still plenty of ways to go birdwatching this winter. In fact, winter birding comes with its own unique set of opportunities to both discover new bird species, and contribute to science and conservation through those observations.

Join Seth Chapman, Apothecary Manager and experienced birder, for a workshop detailing what birding can look like through the winter in Michigan, and what opportunities arise to keep you engaged in birding. From exciting new species to observe, to participating in bird counts, there’s no shortage of ways to engage in birding, and this workshop will show you the way.

This workshop will leave you with a roadmap for birding through the winter. Whether you prefer birding from your kitchen window, going on a short walk, or tracking down that unique or rare species, there’s something for everybody!

These classes are a great support for birding hikes, which take place in Kleinstuck Preserve during the warmer months.

Investment: $30

Seth's Yoga + Āyurveda journey began over a decade ago after attending a yoga class in Kalamazoo. He is a life-long learner with a passion for nature, and an interest in learning new skills. He is now the Apothecary Coordinator here at the Āyurvedic Wellness Center.

Seth has a lifelong passion for birds, and loves sharing his enthusiasm of the bird world with those around him. His interest in birds led him to begin his life list at the age of 10. Seth also volunteers at a local nature center where he monitors nestboxes, as well as volunteers at a bird banding station.
