Beginning Birding: Waterfowl 101 (in-person)
w. Seth Chapman

Many of us may be familiar with our resident feeder birds; the Blue Jay, the Chickadee, the Titmouse. But did you know that during the fall and winter months, many different species of waterfowl migrate to and through southwest Michigan?

Join Seth Chapman, Apothecary Manager and experienced birder, to learn the basics of waterfowl. From migration to identification, this course will cover the basics of waterfowl, and inspire you to go birding for ducks, geese, loons, and more!

This workshop will answer such questions as:

  • What makes a duck, a duck?

  • Why and how do waterfowl migrate?

  • Where can I go birding for waterfowl?

  • How can I identify what species of waterfowl I am observing?

These classes are a great support for birding hikes, which take place in Kleinstuck Preserve during the warmer months.

Investment: $30

Seth also volunteers at a local nature center where he monitors nestboxes, as well as volunteers at a bird banding station.
