February Birding Basics: Fundamentals of Bird Identification
w. Seth Chapman

Warm up with a hot cup of chai and take delight in the birds this month at the Ayurvedic Wellness Center! Spend the morning with our passionate, in-house birder Seth Chapman and learn about what it takes to identify the various birds you will encounter during your birding journey.

In this class you will learn the tools and techniques necessary to identify any species of bird, at home or on the trail. From woodpeckers to waterfowl, these teachings will give you a foundation from which to build upon in order to successfully identify our beloved winged friends.

Through the practice of self-inquiry, you will learn what to look for and what questions to ask yourself in order to hone in on a particular species of bird. Topics of discussion include basic bird anatomy, songs and calls, habitats and niches, and feathers and plumages.

This three part series is recommended for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of how to care for guests that visit your home, and how to spot and positively identify species in the wild. These classes are also good support for birding hikes, which takes place in the warmer months.

This is an educational birding class held indoors at AWC. This class does not include a bird hike.
