bone building black sesame balls
makes 12-15 balls | ready in 15 mins.
These delicious, “not too sweet” treats are from Kate O’Donnell. At the AWC we love them so much, we had to share them with you. In the original recipe, Kate shares that “black sesame is a powerful bone builder and supports red blood and all deep tissues. It’s benefits are too many to name, but know that including it in your diet will bring deep strength in many ways.”
Give them a try when you are craving a little something sweet.
Ingredients
1/4 cup black sesame seeds
1 cup dates
3 tbsp tahini
2/3 cups rolled oats
1/2 tsp cardamom
pinch of Himalayan mineral salt
2 tbsp mixed black and white sesame seeds, for rolling
Doshic Adjustments
🅟 🅥 Enjoy as is.
🅚 Enjoy in moderation.
Method
In a heavy bottomed pan, toast the seasme seeds over medium heat until they pop. Remove from the heat and transfer to a plate or wide bowl to cool completely.
Grind the cooled sesame seeds in a coffee or spice grinder.
Process the dates in a food processor until they form a ball. If the dates are not moist, soak them in water for 5 to 10 minute, then drain.
Add the seeds and the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and process to combine. Allow oats to break up for a smother texture (unless you like chewy). Add a little more tahini if needed to make the mixture sticky.
Place the sesame mixture in a small boll. Roll 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture into a ball, then roll in the black and white sesame seeds to cost. Repeat until all of the mixture has been made into balls.
These sesame balls will keep in an airtight container on the counter for up to one week.
