Many of us are familiar with resident birds such as Blue Jays, Chickadees, and woodpeckers—but did you know that during the fall and winter months, a remarkable variety of waterfowl migrate to and through Southwest Michigan?

Early winter is an exciting time to experience this seasonal movement, and this workshop is designed to help you locate and identify the many species of waterfowl found across the region. Join experienced birder Seth Chapman to explore the fascinating world of ducks, geese, swans, and loons while gaining practical tools for recognizing them in the field.

In-person at the Ayurvedic Wellness Center, with nearby field site recommendations provided for follow-up exploration.

Is this connected to other AWC birding events?
Yes, this workshop complements our seasonal birding hikes at Kleinstuck Preserve during the warmer months.

Seth's Yoga + Ayurveda journey began over a decade ago after attending a yoga class in Kalamazoo. He is a life-long learner with a passion for nature, and an interest in learning new skills.

Seth has a lifelong passion for birds, and loves sharing his enthusiasm of the bird world with those around him. His interest in birds led him to begin his life list at the age of 10. Seth also volunteers at a local nature center where he monitors nestboxes, as well as volunteers at a bird banding station.
