Release & Restore: Yoga for Embodied Social Change (in-person + livestream)
w. Kat Owens

This four-week semester explores Yoga as an engaged practice of individual and collective well-being. The turbulence of the world can leave us feeling overwhelmed and helpless, but our Yoga practice can offer us nurturing tools to awaken our innate wisdom and feel empowered to stay connected to the things we care about.

In this semester offering participants will:

  • Connect to Yogic and Buddhist teachings that weave together spiritual practice and social change

  • Learn an overview of the autonomic nervous system and its connection to the gunas of Yoga philosophy

  • Explore somatic tools to deepen resilience and integrate complex emotions

  • Practice meditation in a way that is trauma-sensitive and centers agency and choice

  • Move through Yoga postures to reconnect to strength, feel supported, and release tension

  • Connect to others, promoting a network of collective care and spiritual community (Sangha)

Spiritual teacher and activist Reverend angel Kyodo williams says “Without inner change there can be no outer change. Without collective change, no change matters.” This semester is suitable for beginner or more experienced Yoga practitioners looking to integrate their individual well-being with a greater vision of well-being for their communities, society, and the planet.

This class is offered in-person at the Ayurvedic Wellness Center or livestream via Zoom. Registration includes access to a class recording for 7 days.
