Evening Bird Hike: The Chimney Swift
w. Seth Chapman
Join Seth Chapman, Apothecary Manger and experienced birder, on a special evening bird hike through Kleinstuck Preserve!
The phrase "The early bird gets the worm" rings true when it comes to birding (birds are generally most active in the early morning hours), but evening bird hikes can be just as rewarding.
For this evening edition of Beginning Birding, we will begin with a brief discussion on the Chimney Swift before heading out to the trails of Kleinstuck Preserve. After the discussion you will have the information needed to identify this bird on your own, as well as other interesting facts and information.
During our hike we will attune to our surroundings, looking and listening to the many species of birds which grace our presence. What can we learn by observing our feathered friends? In contemplation, we will deepen our understanding of ourselves, and the environment around us.
Come to hike in community, sharpen your identification skills, build your life list, and expand your bird knowledge! All skill levels are welcome. There will also be complementary chai.
Registration covers one adult, and individual registrations are not shareable between two or more individuals. Birders 10 and under are welcome to attend free of charge.
Please bring a pair of binoculars. If you do not own a pair, there are a few loaner pairs that you may use on the hike.
This hike takes place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately (layers, rain jacket, bug spray, etc).
Hike length: 1.5 mi, easy difficulty
