Birding Basics: How Birds Fall in Love
w. Seth Chapman

Warm up with a hot cup of chai and take delight in the birds this month at the Ayurvedic Wellness Center! Spend the morning with passionate birder Seth Chapman and learn how birds fall in love with each other.

How do birds “fall in love”? This final workshop examines the various courtship displays of birds, and other ways our beloved feathered friends show their interest and dedication to their partner. From nest building and raising young, to song and dance, the variation of courtship behavior in the bird world is vast.

We will take an in-depth look at the importance of courtship, nesting, and raising young though case studies on a number of bird species. Upon completion of this class you will have a better understanding of the ways that birds form pair bonds, be able to identify various mating displays of local birds, and have an introduction to identifying different types of bird nests.

These classes are a great support for birding hikes, which take place in Kleinstuck Preserve during the warmer months.
