Beginning Birding: Migration Season in Kleinstuck
w. Seth Chapman

Join Seth, Apothecary Coordinator and experienced birder, on a birdwatching hike through Kleinstuck Preserve during peak migration.

Perhaps the most exciting time to go birding, spring migration welcomes a multitude of species of birds to be seen; some arriving to their breeding grounds for the summer, other passing through on their way further north, resting in Kleinstuck before continuing their journey.

This will be an exciting hike, and there will be many species that may only be seen for a brief period of time each year. Songbirds, warblers, woodpeckers, and more in their full breeding plumage, remain to be discovered!

Whether you’re looking to build your lifelist, witness the forest in full song, or practice your identification of birds, this hike will provide you with many opportunities to do so.

This is a hike you won’t want to miss! Come to hike, spend time in community, and build your bird knowledge!

Please bring a pair of binoculars and a travel mug for complementary chai.

Hike length: 1.5 mi, easy difficulty

This hike takes place Saturday, May 13 from 8:00a-9:30a ET.

Seth's Yoga + Āyurveda journey began over a decade ago after attending a yoga class in Kalamazoo. He is a life-long learner with a passion for nature, and an interest in learning new skills. He is now the Apothecary Coordinator here at the Āyurvedic Wellness Center.

Seth has a lifelong passion for birds, and loves sharing his enthusiasm of the bird world with those around him. His interest in birds led him to begin his life list at the age of 10. Seth also volunteers at a local nature center where he monitors nestboxes, as well as volunteers at a bird banding station.
