Beginning Birding: An Evening with Swifts (in-person)
w. Seth Chapman

Join experienced birder Seth Chapman for a casual and awe-inspiring evening observing Chimney Swifts. The Chimney Swift is an incredibly unique bird. They spend most of their lives airborne, feeding on insects while staying aloft with snappy wingbeats. They also nest and roost in chimneys, of which they enter en masse at dusk.

This event will present us with an opportunity to witness the amazing spectacle of these birds entering their roost for the night in incredible fashion. Dozens, sometimes hundreds, of Chimney Swifts flock together, resembling a tornado, as they dive one-by-one into their roost. Whether you are new to birding or a long-time enthusiast, you’ll enjoy this relaxed evening outdoors, learning more about the natural world around us.
