Beginning Yoga (in-person + livestream)
w. Gina Greene . E.RYT, LMT

Beginning Yoga is a beginner-level practice that explores Yoga from the ground up, as a state of mind as much as a set of practices that support it. Each class opens with a brief reading and reflection from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, an invitation to meet Yoga as something more than physical exercise. The movement begins slowly, with attention first to the breath. New postures are introduced gradually, with care for alignment, safety, and accessibility.

Led by Gina Greene E.RYT, LMT, this class meets you where you are. You will never be asked to take a posture that feels compromising for your body, and variations are always offered. The most useful things to bring are curiosity, friendliness, and respect for your own experience. This class suits those with little or no experience, as well as anyone returning to the foundations to revisit alignment. Everyone is welcome.

Gina Greene . E.RYT, LMT

Gina took her first yoga class in NYC at The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center where her heart was smitten. Her first certification in Basics was through Kali Ray’s TriYoga system. She went on to complete her 200 and 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training certifications through Lotus in the Flame with her teacher, Melissa Spamer, who shares her deeply lived experience of Yoga & Ayurveda with a dedication that has been a gift to receive.

Gina is grateful for the richness offered her, the ground from which her unique understanding of yoga, bodywork and living with presence could root and rise. She began teaching yoga in the Kalamazoo community eighteen years ago upon request and hasn’t turned away from the invitation since. Her classes tend towards steadiness, essential movements for stability and ease with a request for curiosity and kindness towards the body-mind. She knows well the need to remember and offer the invitation to soften, listen, gentle and receive the sweetness of heart-centered awareness.
