Birding Basics: Feeder Birds - Identification + Behavior
w. Seth Chapman
Warm up with a hot cup of chai and take delight in the birds this month at the Ayurvedic Wellness Center! Spend the morning with passionate birder Seth Chapman and learn how to identify the birds that visit your feeders, yard, and neighborhood!
Whether you live in a downtown apartment, or a country cottage with an extensive garden, birding can begin at home. This class is intended to lay the foundation for successful identification of birds you might find at your feeder. Topics of discussion include bird food basics, birdfeeders, useful techniques to identify birds at the feeder, and how to begin your life list.
This first part of a four part series is recommended for those who wish to gain ability and confidence in positively identifying birds at the feeder. You will finish the class ready and equipped to begin building your life list on your own! These classes are also a good support for birding hikes, which takes place in the warmer months.
While not required, it is highly recommended to purchase a field guide (Golden Field Guides or The Peterson Guide are good choices) if you don’t already have one, and a birder’s journal / life list for this four part series.
This is an educational birding class held indoors at AWC. This class does not include a bird hike.
